Punch list
The list of record. Due dates, assignees, colors, and a real Word doc when a task outgrows one line. If it matters, it lives here until one of us actually does it.
Bangers
Fast, loud, and gone by Thursday. Rapid-fire lists for the garage or the party run that burn themselves down after a couple of days, so the real list never gets buried.
Grocery
One list, sorted by store: Jewel-Osco, Costco, Aldi. Drag things into marching order, check them off as they hit the cart, and stop buying a third jar of the same mustard.
Home
The house itself, from anywhere in it or out of it. Start the kettle and pick a temperature. Dim the lights or kill them all from bed. Nudge the thermostats without getting up. Same tab as the grocery list, and the gadgets are talked to directly on our own network.
Reminders
One text or email in the morning when something is actually due. That's it. No streaks, no badges, no app begging for attention.
Text it
Text "done 1", "add fix the gate friday", or "what's on my costco list" and a sovereign AI, running on our own hardware, texts you back. No cloud middleman.
Private
Data goes where we say it goes: sometimes our own Microsoft 365 cloud, sometimes a machine humming away in the house. Cloud or local, it stays in the family. No ads, no analytics, no third parties.
What is this?
ottjott is a personal project by Matthew Bishop, a task app built for one household (ours). It isn't a product: there's nothing to buy, no accounts to create, and no data collected from visitors. This page exists mostly so you know whose otter this is. His name is Ott, he flies with his goggles up, and he will trade your car keys for a bottle cap. Count your silverware. π¦¦
